Why Prep?

Students often struggle in law school because they have a false understanding of what it takes to succeed. Law school is vastly different from undergraduate programs and other graduate studies. Law school is one of the most competitive endeavors that you can undertake. You must learn a new set of skills and master these skills to succeed.

Also, your first year grades largely determine your summer and full-time employment opportunities. Most first-year law classes are graded on a curve. This means that only a certain number of As and Bs can be awarded. As a result, only a select number of students will land that coveted job.

And make no mistake about it---an increased number of students are learning the skills that they need to succeed before they ever step foot on the campus. Don’t be left behind!

Our Prep Classes give you a law school classroom experience where you can learn, practice and master techniques and gain the confidence needed to excel.

To be competitive, you need to learn the basics before you get started.

The Truth about Law School

Misconception #1: “All I have to do to succeed in law school is to apply the same study habits that I used in undergrad.”
Truth #1: Law school is different from undergraduate programs and other graduate studies. You don’t have to abandon all of your study habits but you must acquire some new skills to succeed. You must learn how to effectively and efficiently read tons of cases per night, organize your notes for several different classes, and prepare daily for each subject in order to actively participate in class. This must be done all at the same time. And, you can do it! You just need to learn the basics before you get started.

Misconception #2: “If I don’t perform well my first year, I have two years to make it up, raise my GPA, and land that great job.”
Truth #2: You must perform well your first year of law school! Your first year grades determine not only your internship options for the summer after your first year but also your employment opportunities for the summer after your second year. That second summer is key and can predict where you will work after you graduate. Furthermore, why take that risk and be in a position where you have to “make it up.” Give it your best! Get ahead today.

Misconception #3: “What’s the worry? My final grade will depend on several things: homework assignments, papers, class participation, etc. There’s likely a chance for extra credit.”
Truth #3: Extra credit? Not a chance. Your grade in most law school classes depends on ONE final exam. There are no routine homework assignments. You must take the initiative to prepare for class, organize your notes and get ready for that final exam. Learn the skills that you need to ace your exam.
